    1992 Javelin motor mount question...

    Hello to all...newbie here!
I own a 1992 Javelin 389 side console bass boat. It's powered by a 1986 140 Evinrude (rebuilt). I love this boat! She is a tank.

My question is where (which hole) should the outboard be mounted on? It is currently in the top holes, just about resting on the top of the transom. Someone said I may want to bring the motor up a hole or two for better performance.

Is there any current Javelin owners out there that could help me out??

    Thanks!!!

I have a 1993 363 Fish n Ski. I think our hull designs are very similar. I have played around with different heights and here's my 2 cents worth. All the way down as low as it will go is just a little too low. If you go up one hole it seems to be just a little too high. The prop looses it's "bite" before you get it trimmed up and on the pad real good. If there was a way to go up half a hole I think it would be perfect. From looking at the posts in the setup section, Todd Morgan (who really knows his stuff) has always said Javelin's like the motor set fairly low...they don't like alot of height. If you're not running a jack plate, set it as low as it will go and live with it. With a jack plate you'll be able to run it higher, but like Todd Morgan said, they don't like alot of height. Check the setup section and see how other Javelin owners have theirs setup. With a 6 inch plate, the propshaft will probably need to be in the 3-4 inch under pad range.

I think more importantly your prop is the issue and or the motor. To get the best
out of it (jmo) you need more motor.
