I recently bought a 1989 Stratos 201 Pro and whenever I take it out, no matter how long I'm out about a gallon of water drains when I remove the plug. It always seems to be about the same. Any ideas??? Thanks!!

Several things: 1) the cooler drains into the bilge 2) water coming over the back deck when you come off-plane 3) you could have some leaking in around where the fittings go thru the hull 4) your livewells or pumps are leaking. 5) you could have some coming in around the rub rail. Put the plug in while sitting in your driveway. With a water hose add a few gallons into the bilge area and look for leaks.

Had the same problem on my 91 201. I pulled all the screws out of the rub rail and dipped them in silicone and put them back in. Then I ran a new bead of silicone around the bottom of the rub rail. This solved my problem.
Not sure if the older 201's are like the newer ones but they are notorious for getting a backwash when coming to a stop. I see you're from Beaverton and must fish Wixom....I LOVE fishing that lake!
Great suggestions!! Thanks for ideas, I'll take a look and post my findings!
I had a 91 201 and water was coming in around the rub rail when running down the lake. I traded mine for that reason.

A tube of black silicone would have fixed it just fine. Had to do a couple spots on my '04 for the same thing last year. Now dry as can be.

Have a 90 285. Resealed rub rail with black 5200 over the winter. Dramatic drop in water that gets into the bilge. I still have a little that comes in from leaking livewell selector switch, but the result was night and day.
