2001 Javelin Renegade 20 - Horsepower Question

I have found a really sharp Renegade 20 for sale. I love the way Javelin's ride and fish.

The boat I have found has a 200 hp Johnson. The NADA guide has a 225 hp engine listed as the recommended engine size. And, most of the Renegades I've seen in this length have 225's.

This boat looks awesome in the pics....gelcoat really shines and there are hardly any scuffs. The price on this boat is $12,500.

Any help would be appreciated.

I love mine and have did a ton of stuff(blue water leds,trailer redo, etc.) to it Things that I did,did not need done but I just added bling. I did have a 2002 Merc 250 ProXB(yes over powered) I then replaced it with a 2006 Merc 225 Pro XS, my boat runs 79mph GPS. Here's a couple of pics of it with the 250 and with the 225, If I can help in anyway give me a shout.

I also have pics of just about anything on this boat(trailer ,seats, electronics, recessed troll ,you name it) so let me know if I can help out in anyway, That asking price of the boat that you are looking at does not seem too bad, I would definately try to get them down, IMO if it had a 200 Merc EFI that would be a great price, Mine was about that price with the 02 250

I wouldnt worry about the 200 its a stout reliable motor. Will run low 70's

Thanks EP....I was just wondering if it that motor would have to work to hard to push the boat.....any concerns with that?

Nope. Just dont expect to run 75+. Proped with a 24p it will rocket out of the hole and run low 70's light and high 60's- 70ish loaded down.
