If the 89 octane is e-free then no harm running it. You'll pay more for your fun but at least you won't have any ill effects. There still should be a mid and hightest available for the BMW peeps.

E-85 is a special blend of 85% ethanol that only works in FLEX-FUEL designed vehicles.
It is not the only type of fuel sold, in fact, very few places carry that special blend.
Now 10% alcohol is normal for that area and that will work in your motor. Your 12 year old owners manual even says that 10% is OK. You may experience vapor lock, slight loss of power, and worse fuel milage which is normal with alcohol laced fuels.

That is what Walmart gas has in it, those Murphy Oil stations. My old Crossflow ran like DOOKEY on that.
I have run some in my current motor, and didn't notice much difference.

The state of Missouri passed legislation requireing the sale of e-85 so it looks like the "higher priced spread" for me.Though something is beginning to sound fishey to me why would a state whe derives so much from recreational boating mess up the fuel it takes to run most boats hmmmm will look further in to this and relay any revelations

Guys the gurus will correct me if I'm wrong. My rig is a 98 model and right now running good with no problems. BUT....when they start that ethanol crap here, I'm changing all rubber lines from my tank to the engine with a ethanol resistant fuel line, etc....... Hope I'm on the right track here. My engine is an 03 so I feel confident that it can handle the ethanol.
