My 201 went to the doctor today

I hit a submerged object a few weeks ago. I sent some pics to our local fiberglass guy and he estimated $3-$5k in damage.

I took the boat to him this morning and, after closer inspection, raised the estimate to $5k - $7k.

He told me that part of it looked to be damage from running the boat at 50 mph after the incident. He said the sheer force of the water peeled everything back. He also thinks some of it was done at the factory by not being laid right because there were air pockets that are now exposed? He said he was going to put it up on the rack and wait for the Progressive guy to show up. They would assess the damage.

5-7 will total it. That's good or bad depending on how well you like the 201 you have. Try finding a good hull only for 5-7k to put all your stuff on.

Take the insurance money, sell the entire rig needing repair and take all the proceeds and get another rig. With 10-12k to spend you'll be in good shape.

Re: My 201 went to the doctor today (oldhippie)

I filed the claim and within 2 hours Progressive called me back. The agent is going over Monday morning (10/10) to take a look. I hope to hear something within the next day or two.
I love this boat and can't imagine having to get something different. Hopefully, we'll have a quick resolution.

The wife hates this boat because it isn't "family friendly".....I don't know what is going to happen.

I think she sabotaged it. She has probably already called the glass shop and Progressive to convince them to total it. I'd keep my eye on her

If the wife hates it, because it's not "family friendly", you might as well start looking at pontoons. One with the little changing room in the back with porta jon

HA!! Got me on that one.

Just got the call from insurance. They are going to cover everything. Bottom, skeg, prop....all of it

Wife's uncle called last night and said he has a neighbor looking to get rid of a pontoon. He said it doesn't look like the thing has even been in the water. $1500 with a 65 hp Suzuki. Might get the best of both worlds.
