3D Structure Scan Module -- Pinging Issue!

I've got a buddy with a constant pinging issue of his 3d structure scan transducer and I'm curious if this is due to having constant power going to the 3D module, which is running the transducer as long as his all-power switch isn't clicked 'off'? Would this occur if his 3d module is connected directly to his cranking battery? What if he as chose one of the following two wiring alternatives below to power the 3d module - would one of these fix his pinging issue?

    1) Connect yellow wire of 3d module to yellow wire of HDS Live unit to turn the module on and off with the HDS.
    2) Connect yellow and red wires of 3d module to a switch, to turn it on and off with the switch.

I have mine hooked up the same way with the rationale that I always turn off the master switch at the ramp, but one time I forgot! My transducer sat powered up for about a week. I don’t know if it pings without the head unit being powered up but it did run my battery down and now I am having trouble with side scan and down scan.
either of the methods you mention work and in my case the most convenient one is to hook the yellow wire on the module to the HDS9 on my console. I never forget to turn it off.

    EDIT:
I discovered that one of the transducer cables was disconnected at the the module. I reconnected it and everything works again so the problem was not related to keeping it powered up for a long period.

My StructureScan switching (Yellow wire) is connected to the Accessory button on the dash touch pad. That’s connected thru the boat master switch.
I have a habit of turning it off at the end of the day, but the SS is powered on the same circuit as all my electronics so it gets powered down when I get home before I recharge. Either way works.
