    Re: Retractable Transom Tie-Down (JeffA)

Jeff, I didn't buy the "universal" brackets for my single axle trailer. Just bolted the ratchet ones right on the frame.

    Re: (JeffA)

Jeff, the tie down points on my trailer were inline w/ the frame rails & I had to use the mount bracket to turn them so they were inline w/ the transom, if that makes since. I didn't purchase the mount bracket, I made my own from a piece of 2x2x.250 2" long angle iron. I drilled a hole in each side, mounted it on the trailer then bolted the tie downs to them. I would purchase the Imco units over the Rod Saver brand. The retract spring broke on 1 of the Rod Saver brand not long after I installed them.

the tie down points on my trailer are not inline, but angled a bit in towards the transom.

    Re: (JeffA)

I noticed that on another post that had a pic of newer Stratos on the trailer. They should work well on your trailer w/o brackets.

Nothing a adjustabe wrench and a little bending on the bracket wont take care of. Did it to mine, works like a charm.
Just be careful not to break the paint at the weld, if so, hit it with some paint to avoid any rust issues.
