    PROP HELP PLEASE!

Have also ,posted this on the nivice boaters forum. Have a 2000 Stratos 17 Vindicator with a 2000 Johnson 150 carb, 6 inch jackplate with a 24p Hydromotive 4 blade prop. The 4 blade has a bunch of stern lift and speed but I am considering a 24 pitch Raker or 24 pitch Tempest and would like to have some educated opinions on this . New to boards and appreciate all the info, Thanks.

Raker or Tempest are good choices. Dont know if they are any better than a Hydromotive though, what dont you like about it?

Great prop for speed but it lifts the stern of the stratos a bunch. Would like to have a little more bow lift. Am not knocking the prop, it pushes rhe boat past my ability to drive it

I think you might test a 25 tempest, That 150 on that 17er should fly, But you will need to learn to drive it to it's potential.

If your motor will turn that 24p, the a 25p tempest will giv eyou the same RPM range. And you can vent the tempest to help your holeshot. You will have less lift with the 3 blade.

    Re: PROP HELP PLEASE! (acnfl)

Thanks for the advice guys. Found a like new 24 Tempest on ebay and tried it out over the weekend. Hole shot same or maybe a little faster, more bow lift, less stern lift which was kinda what i was after. If I was looking for less speed I didn,t find it (scary fast for a 17 footer) started to chine at 64 gps. Looks like i,m going to have to learn to drive. Once again thanks for everyone's help.
