10" Jackplate is on the way. Any tips to mounting it?

Well I found a nice used plate from a fellow BBC member....
I have never mounted one. All my boats in the past came with them. Are there any tips or concerns I should have? Also if I was to run into a situation where the stering cables werent long enough is there a fix without purchasing new ones?

3M 4200 to seal the bolts thru transom, Jackplate bolt kit. A way to lift the motor and if you can swing it away it makes it very easy to make room for the install. I have done a few and jsut went from a 6" to 8" on mine this week. 1 person job 1.5 hrs the first time. 45 minutes the next time.

i'm gonna guess the stock cables won't be long enough...
it would help if we knew what is was going on to.

Hypotenuse of a right triangle. You won't need 8 inches of slack, more like 4 inches max. You can find that much by taking a shorter path around corners in the rigging well. 3M is the ticket for sealing the holes. Also, transom bolt backing plates is a good idea if your boat does not have them. After a week or so, take the time to re-tighten. Then get your Raker worked, you'll be just fine. Get in touch if you need advice or anything

Re: 10" Jackplate is on the way. Any tips to mounting it? (imthemedic)

    Update:
Got the 10" plate on tonight. Well it wasn't an easy task. Three and a half hours later we were cleaning up lol. It was a stretch to get it in there. I had to pull the fuel tank and try to reroute the steering cables. I was able to get just enough and I do mean just....LoL I also put on a transom plate and the holes were off about a half inch? Im not sure how that happened I guess I should have bought the more expensive one lol. Anyways it's on there so yes a stock Stratos can take a 10" plate barely. A 8" would be an easy install. I have the motor set at 3" below the pad for the first trial run. I will let you know how it does......
