Steering Cables

I Have a 1995 Stratos 285 Pro XL and the Steering Cables are bad. I was wondering how long the steering cables came with it from factory? The ones that came out of it, looked like they had been "Jerry Rigged". The ones that were in it were Teleflex 13 ft Steering Rack & Cable Assembly 1984-1996. Also will 12 Foot cables work?

Go hydraulic if you can. If you can't, put back what was in the boat originally. Good luck!
