Not a few more, no.
Maybe one, but remember you're still running a 225 on a boat rated for a 250. You're not going to see a huge increase going to the 12" plate. Every couple of inches may get you a few tenths.
Pros: Be able to raise the motor higher.
Cons: Might lose a little holeshot due to the larger setback with a 225.

Well my current one needs replaced im just trying to decide to go to a 12 or 8 with a 225 motor....
Up to you. On a 201 with a 225, I would just go with the 8".
