97 Stratos 295 PE electrical Questions

Long story short, we had to replace the livewell pumps (pump in) and the bilge pump. It originally had two bilge pumps, a 500 auto and a 500 manual. Replaced it with a 1100 auto. If you hook up all three wires on the auto, it runs all the time regardless of switch position and the light stays on all the time. if you just hook up the solid brown wire it works as it should.. Bad panel switch? The reason we had to replace in the first place is they got knocked loose by a flying battery and wouldnt shut off.

Now for the livewell pumps, we replaced them because the others didn't work and now I can't get them to come on.. seems like there is no power. The recirc pumps work. I tested the pumps on the battery, so I know they are good. Again, another bad panel switch?

The fresh water pumps work off of the timer on the front panel! They do not come on right away, they have to wait for whatever time you set them for to come on! You have to set your switch at the console to "FISH", then set the timer on the front along with both livewells! I hope I explained it right!! Your old pumps probably were not bad!! Operator error!!!

yeah, the pumps were bad.. they got crushed by a flying battery...

I have a 1996 278 FS and I had a problem with both livewell pumps not working. Turned out it was the connector for all of the wires coming from the front panel. Took it apart cleaned it a little, spread the pins and they worked. You have to pull the front panel to get to it. It was also affecting my tilt control on the front panel.
