Ran the old stratos at the lake today

Went to the lake today to run a prop. I recently bought a stock new 28 bravo. i am having holes drilled in it and B&B next week. But i wanted to run it first so i can get a baseline before any work is done to see how much it improves it. i have always heard that stock bravo props wont run very well. damn thing ran 90.1 today with a fishing load and 3/4 tank of fuel. definitely put a smile on my face. not what i was expecting.

Re: Ran the old stratos at the lake today (ep72)

mike, thats my boat in the video and the links you provided . but that was with no trolling motor or tackle and a 31 txp that was a dog out of the hole. i ran 90.1 today with tackle, rods, 3/4 gas, full oil, stock prop. also that was before i raised the rev limiter. i think with some tweaking i can get to mid 90s since im turning more rpms.

05 stratos 200 xl, 363 hp hydrotec motor, bone stock right out of the box 28 bravo. 6600 rpms. water temp was 45, air temp was mid 40s.

as to the doubters, go watch the video or call hydrotec. i promise its true.

as for mike and others, what do u think of going with more setback. i am currently at 10", but thinking of going to 12" for cleaner water to run on top end. what do u think? would 12" be too much? what about 14" too much?

If you are wanting topend #'s and don't care about hole-shot, I think you should move back some.

how bad will 2" hurt the holeshot?
holeshot definitely varies with the prop im running. a 27 tempest jumps out of the hole. a 28 bravo should be good with dual pvs holes. i plan on running the 28 bravo as my prop of choice.

I think you need a 30P bravo1 and turn less rpms. You might benefit from more setback.

I have a 28P 3 blade that would rock on your boat. Craigs06 has one in a 29P that really might wake that slug up.

I got a 29 txp that i ran on it. but i havent run it much to be honest. might try and run it some in the next few weeks. performance props did the b&b on it. it would always run into the limiter, but that was before i raised it.

I'll be honest, I wasnt expecting a stock out of the box bravo to run near that good. i was always told they were dogs without being worked.
