    Draining water pressure guage hose

Living in the North forces me to drain water pressure gauge hose every year. Pain in the arse to get at. Do they make a valve to install in the hose that I can just open to drain every year? Does anyone else drain the hose? Had a few guys tell me they lost pressure gauge due to ice in the line.

Re: Draining water pressure guage hose (bird)

I put a inline connector in the hose about 14" down from the gauge in a easy to reach location. Every fall I just remove a line from the coupling and let it hang. Leave a few extra inches as you may need to cut ends every couple years.

I have heard a T works well also.

Ps just fired the motor for the first time and didnt connect the line, WET RUG but know the waterpump is good.

Looking for a drain valve or a T with a plug. I don't want to crawl under dash disconnect, heat hoses and reconnect every year. Getting too old for this sh------. Any idea where to find? I have emailed aquarium supply houses, plumbing supply house and marine dealers with no success.

Re: Draining water pressure guage hose (bird)

I did this. pulled the water line off the gauge, got a piece 18" long and hooked it to the gauge. Put a brass double male ended adpater to connect the 2. The extra length lets it drop down under the dash. Then when it need to (spring or fall it ) I just reach under find the hose pull it out like if you your trying to hot wire a car then just stick it back up under the dash.

I can do this just sitting in the drivers seat.

The T would work just leave a long piece hose off the T and plug it with a machine screw and a zip tie. Thats all they use for hose clamps anyhow.
