I have a 1997 Johnson fast strike on a stratos 282 J150gleue. I am changing putting in a new faria 7000 rpm tach replacing an old 8000 faria tach. The old tach was set on position 4 according to the new tachs direction it says 5. Thanks

Try it and see, that's all I can tell ya. OMC/BRP tachs are set on 6.
