    Speaker install in a 201 Evo...where?

Have any of you guys installed speakers in a 201 Evo yet? I'm sure the guys at C&O have. I'm wondering where I could put a speaker (6.5") on the driver's side? I think there's enough room on the passenger side (single console) to simply mount on the side. Is there enough room between the control box and the switch panel on the driver's side? I know much of the wiring bundle runs there too, will there be much interference? For the rest, I'm planning on adding a Clarion Sirius XM system. Once I get it all installed, I'll post some pics. Thanks for any inputs.

Anyone? Carol at C&O said the driver's side one would go by the hot foot. Would that be on the right side under the fuse panel, on the back side facing the driver, or on the left side next to the cooler...facing the fuse panel? Thanks for any inputs...I'm not wanting to drill a hole and find I don't have enough clearance for the magnet. I should be getting the stuff in tomorrow and I'm chomping at the bit to get it installed.

There's room by the driver's calf and room at the passenger rod ramp. Me? I prefer a smaller box speaker under the driver's dash. No holes to be cut. If you have a DC you can do that on both sides.

Thanks Todd. I have a SC, so since I'm already cutting a big hole in the passenger side, I'll do it on the driver's side. I ran the wires tonight. Looks like I'll be able to cut the hole on the driver's side after I pulled the majority of the hotfoot. I'm going to mount the radio controller on the silver panel that holds the main switch panel. I'm going to make a lexan backer to go behind the remote mount since that silver stuff is pretty thin. I think it'll be alright. I had an issue mounting the Sirius antenna. I drilled the hole on the passenger side next to the rod strap behind the passenger seat. There is about 2" of floatation foam under the fiberglass and I can't really get to it good from the access hole in the dry storage. When I was drilling through, it seemed like I went through the main deck, then hit 2 smaller layers of fiberglass with foam between. Does this sound right? As it is now, my hole was small enough that I have a slight interference fit with the mounting screw so it's fairly snug. I might use some doublesided tape or something like that to secure it...maybe not, we'll see how it holds up. I'll take some pics when I'm done. What do you all use to cut the big holes? I've got a roto-zip and a couple fiberglass bits. I'm hoping that'll do the trick. After I get the speakers mounted, it's just plugging in some wires and mounting the main radio box and the Sirius decoder (both in the small dry storage on the front deck). Sounds simple enough...I'm sure something will go wrong.

If you mean a 6.5" hole I usually use either a roto zip type bit in a dremel or a jig saw if I can. Make sure to check the area behind where you plan to cut and make sure there is nothing there, then check again! Drilling and/or cutting thru things can be VERY costly. I have a 294 but maybe the pics in the link below will help you out some.......

Actually have a rotozip...but had to go buy some fiberglass bits. The multipurpose ones worked great. I finished it the next day. It took a bit of time for me to warm up to doing the speaker cutouts, but in the end it sounds outstanding and looks alright if I do say so myself. Great thing...I'm able to listen to any NFL game I could think of. Did that today when I finished up the box I used to mount the stereo/Sirius decoder in. Here's some pics:

    Doing the cutting...

    Pic of passenger side speaker...

Pic of driver's side speaker...and radio front panel remote (used industrial velcro to hold it on...I can remove it if parking in a less desirable location.

And a pic of the box I built to mount the head unit and satellite converter. All can be disconnected in the fall if I put it in storage away from home; or if I park in a less desirable part of town...

    Frickin' awesome.
I am getting ready to tackle two stereo installs. One in the 294 and one in the Tracker 175txw. Should be interesting to say the least
