    Water in back of boat-Normal?

I seem to be getting some water in the area where my bilge pumps are (under batteries) when using my livewells. I run a 1993 285pro XL. When wells are full and running all day (recirc/aerate/fill) occasionally my auto bilge will come on or if I flip on the manual pump it will spit water out. Not tons of water, but some. About 30 sec of pumping water out at the most. Is this normal? I do try to avoid washing the back deck when coming off plane, but sometimes a little creeps up. Would that be the cause? Pumps don't come on after a run, usually only after fishing for awhile.
I have changed all the LW pumps (4 of them!!!) and found no leaks ect w/ the hoses and overflow hose seems to be clear. My big concern is I have found some glass delamination in the back when I pulled the batteries and trays. The wood that was glassed into the back was wet but not rotten. I have let that dry out and put a temp fix to seal that for now. Going to get that re-glassed soon. Would really like to address any possible problem early, but not sure if this is one or not. If its normal I can live with that. Everything else great w/ this boat, I really like it. Just looking for feedback or info. First big boat and some things that may be "normal" freak me out a little. Thanks for any info that can be given.

Water in a boat is not normal, unless it's raining. You've got something leaking somewhere. The main culprits are livewell plumbing and pumps, but could even be something like the thru hull fittings or drain plug. If no water comes in while not using the livewell, look at all the livewell plumbing, etc.

I get water over the transom if I abruptly stop as well... That could be your problem... Try to avoid that next outing and see if its your problem....

I don't think the livewells are spillproof. My bet is your are getting spillage from those. I have a '97 201 and seem to always have a few quarts back there myself after driving around.

my 99 javelin 19 has overflows and every once in a while i'll hit the bilge and it'll spit for a sec or two from rough water rides.when the livewells are full

if you have cartridge type livewell pumps, like rule or mansfeild, check to make sure they are seated in the pump right i had one come a little loose and i was getting water leaking when the pumps turned on
