Installing Trolling Motor Tray on My 200 XL

I want to put a tray in my '04 200, but want to make sure there is nothing I have to worry about when I cut the hole. I removed my bow panel, and put my camera in there, and all I see is what looks like a bunch of spray foam insulation stuck to the bottom in one certain area. I am not sure what this is, or if there is anything I need to worry about. Any experiences or advice? Thanks guys.

Eric, it should be straight forward. The deck is fiberglass and composite with the floatation foam underneath. Just be careful to cut the hole straight! Make sure the drain hose reaches to the keel of the boat to divert water to the bilge area. Post some pics after you're done.

It's a piece of cake once you get everything lined up and the first hole drilled.

I won't name the person, but you all see his posts in here a lot...anyway, he has a friend at his work that does some welding and had some spare time to built this for me. It's out of pieces of scrap aluminium 3/16" thick (sturdy as all-get-out). I just sent a drawing and measurements and they did the rest.

After I got it back, I took it to a powder coating shop that does a lot of race parts for the local race cars, and I asked them to hold it until someone came in wanting silver powder coating. After a couple of weeks, someone came in wanting this special silver (it turns colors when the light hits it at certain angles), and they threw my tray in with the other parts. Oh, then the customer decided he wanted it clear-coated, and again they added my tray.

My total investment was just under $35, and that's counting the SS screws!

It's nice to have such good friends!!!!!

I was considering building a few as I have a CNC plasma cutter, If there were enough interest, I could design a tray to the contour of the foot control so it fit exact and then run an edge all around, powdercote and add fastener holes.
