1993 EVINRUDE 175 WORLD RECORD HOLDER EDITION

I just bought this 1992 stratos 285 pro xl. It has a 1993 Evinrude 175 wrh edition on it. what is the differance between the world record holder and the origional? Mine says #14 on the mounting plate. This motor sat up for a couple of years. It runs alright, but it misses and shakes quite a bit after I replaced the plugs. It also seems to leak oil/gas out of the carbs quite a bit. Is this normal? It also pulls to the right ALOT. I moved the trim tab all the way. It has a 141/2 x 24 raker prop on it. Is this the right prop? Please help...

1st, welcome aboard. Being a carb motor, probably needs carb kits to fix the leaking carb gaskets. They are notorious for that, especially after setting up. Just a caution, if the carbs are flooding the cylinders, it could wash down the cylinder and seize up. It has happened to my previous 'Rude 175. Pulling to the right is a general trait of a Raker without hydraulic steering to counter act the prop torque. 24 pitch is probably pretty close. Not real sure about the diff in the wrh motor, others will chime in. A 4 blade Renegade will reduce the steering torque some, lose about 2 or 3 mph.

BTW; the torque tab does nothing for you when on plane, it is out of the water. It's primary function is a sacrificial anode for corrosion protection. It might help a few seconds on hole shot........lots of folks use a replacement disc with no fin
