I have a 19.5' Javelin with a 225 Evinrude. The prop is a 13 1/2 * 27 Renegade. I can get 62 mph. I just really thought the boat would get into the 70's. What can I do to improve the speed?

Try a 27 tempest+
How many rpms are you turning the 27 renegade?

Some where around 5500. I didn't pay close enough attention to it I must admit, plus I didn't pay attention to water pressure either. My bass boat has always had a 90 and now I just got this big boat and I'm trying to learn everything about how to drive it. Any information would help me. I just learned on this site last night about the water pressure and the rpm's and the jack plate. Really confused right now
Welcome to the boards . If you decide to get rid of the 27 gade I'd like first wack . I've been looking for one for my boat and you can save me some time . My email address is : bluewaterbadboy@yahoo.com
a buddy of mine has a 19 ft javelin with a 225 merc and a 27 tempest he can run mid to upper 70's.

I was wondering what model Javelin you had...if my memory is correct they had a 18'9" boat called a 389 and R19 rated for 175 HP. The javelin 400 and R20 were both over 20 ft and rated for 225 HP but I can not recall a 19'5" that was rated for 225 HP.
About the speed reading...if you are going buy the speedometer the reading is very inaccurate. When working correctly most boat speedometers read high buy 2-5 mph. When the lines get clogged up they will read very low . If you are getting your speed from a GPS then it will be accurate.
The 400 and the R20 were both just under 20ft both at 19'10''.

You need a large diameter 3 blade prop. An original raker or tempest will help you a lot. The new raker II's are pretty soft. They are fast props but not forgiving. If you bump anything, they will bend. The original raker and tempest are pretty hard and perform well on the javelin boats.
Congrats on the boat Bro. Toby. And welcome to the boards, (BBC). I thought I was the one that was telling you about the water pressure, rpm's and what you could do to help you out with the speed and the hole shot. Man, I must have been mistaken. Wait until I tell your wife you threw me to the side once you FINALLY got on these boards.....![]()

Hey Bro., how is the set up going......![]()
Just don't let the speed get to you. Please learn how to control and operate that boat before it gets you. This one is a lot different than the one you had.....
Still wanting to win one!
