Looking for opinions on this boat. It will see some Great Lakes usage and I was wondering how it will be in terms of ride and durability. I also did not think that Yamaha made the 200 Vmax (non HPDI) in 06. What changes have been made since 06 to the 294?

Ive got an 06 and i have a few issues but for what i bought it for i couldnt pass it up. Im about 6'6 and the legroom is not what i really need. Livewell is far too small. I guess the 07 and newer models got bigger wells. It rides great and is plenty fast enough. I have an opti so i dont know much about that motor but from what i have heard the non HPDI model was a real gas sucker and with the smaller fuel tank on the 294 it might be an issue. Go get ya a 201.
No real changes since '06 as far as the hull and layout goes. Believe the livewells are a little larger now, and the console may be laid out a little differently with the gauges, but nothing significant.
The durability of the boat will be fine in whatever water you put it in. The actual ride will not be as good as some of the larger boats (21' +) in those kind of waves but will be better than most anything else.

I fish the great lakes out of a 06 294XL, you will have no problems. I have the 200HO Etec so I can not tell you about the motor. Your driving ability is going to make the biggest difference.

I am pretty sure that in 2006 the 200 was the only 3.1L Vmax Ox66 available. I also think that may have been the final year for them. They are a good strong, solid motor that is a typical dependable Yamaha.
