Hello Everyone
Just want to double check something, I could not get my boat over about 5100 RPMS, it is a 150 Opti with a 23 Pitch tempest. I was at 55.6 on GPS with great handling and hole shot.
Well here is the part i need confirmation on. I took it back to the dealer which is the local Cabelas. They said the hotfoot was hitting the back wall and not allowing it to open up all the way. They fixed it and also after listening to the great people on this board i had them install a jack plate (CMC 5 1/2 inch). I told them to install it on the middle hole and set it at 3 1/2 inches so i could tweak it from there. They are REALLY nice and have treated me great but i do not think they have ever installed a jack plate. They set it on the top hole and had it as far down as it would go, the Sterring was allmost hitting the top of the transom. I got it home and measure it and it was at least 5 1/2 under pad (using level boat. level motor, level concrete, and i measured center of hub and the lowest part of the small v on the pad right below the drain). I moved it up to 3 5/8 below pad and am going out tomorrow afternoon to run it.
Guess what i am asking is am i doing the right thing, they said they contacted Stratos and set it 3 1/2 inches but the were not using the center of the hub for reference from what he was showing me. I could of been a pain but they have been really nice and when i get it right i am going to go back and show them for a learning experience. I am mechanically inclined and have seen many boats with jack plates to see something was wrong
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
