    1988 179v info needed

    Hey Gang,
I'm looking for a used bass boat. I'm somewhat open to a few brands. I really like the older Ranger 300 series hulls. Or the older Hydra-sports hulls. I like the recessed front decks. I found a 1988 Stratos 179v. I'm wondering how big the deck is on this boat. I used to own a 1992 275 Pro (bought it new). Does the 179 and 275 pro have about the same size front deck? I know my 275 pro had a flipping deck, but in terms of room to move about..are they comparable. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks

I also found a 1986 179. Does it have more of a flat nose, versus the 1988 year? thanks

Team: If you like the old Hydra-Sports hulls, you will like the 179V. This was one of Earl Benz's first boat's he offered after he left Hydra-Sports and started Stratos. The hull (and front deck also) is very similar to the Hydra-Sports X-270, VS-150, and VL-475. Properly set-up and powered accordingly, the 179V is probably just as quick as a VS-150 or VL-475, but won't stay with a X-270 that is set-up right.

I had a 179 V, 1987 year, The nose was pointed with a @85 degree angle. THe front deck was big enough and it had a nice front live well just below the seat. Mine had the XP 150, 25 P. Renegade. It would run in the mid 60's easily. On flat water this boat was fast enough but rough water was a tough ride to take on at any speed. It would come off plane at @ 25 MPH. I miss the boat because the design of the decks was just right for 2 people. They all have pros and cons. On plane it took three acres of water to turn.
