I am considering buying a 2005 tr20x with a 225 e- tec on it. I am wondering if these motors were good or bad ones in that year. I am not sure yet if it is a h.o. or not it has the american flag on the side of the motor. I am also wondering if the would still be warrantey on this motor? the dealer sells mercs. any help would be great lads

Good motor, get the serial number and these guys can check the history on it.
I have one of the first production motors in 2005, its a 225 H.O. zero problems on it thus far and I'm at 155 hours on the motor

i have an 05 225ho etec on my 05 tr21x.after a few initial map upgrades and mods.it has ran flawless i turn a 28 raker to 5800 rpms @ 78.3 my best wot pass by myself 1/3 tank gas all my gear i weigh 310lbs.very strong mota.
Great motor,I have 433 hours on mine.
i love my ETEC, its an 05. mine even blew up with about 50 hours! but that was on a thursday night and had it back on water Monday morning. Fishing and running strong ever since. I think anyone that goes with the ETEC will be happy, especially me 5 more years of Warranty!
