I have a 2004 Evinrude 115 DI with less than 80 hours, still under warranty. Two weeks ago it was running absolutely perfect. I took it to the marina to get it winterized for storage.
The mechanic calls 2 days later and says the oil light won't go out. What? "Yeah, ever since I put in the stabilizer the oil light won't go out."
Two days later my wife gets a call while I'm out of town. "You need a new oil manifold" Parts covered by warranty but 3 hours of labor at $90 per hour and that's on top of the winterized services. She authorizes the repairs.
I'm mechanically challenged and don't even know what a "oil manifold" is. But I know my motor was running perfectly when I pulled it two weeks ago. I have an appointment with the marina's owner to discuss this matter. Do I have a beef or is it possible there was a latent problem that only surfaced under the conditions of getting it ready for storage?
