    201 Prop question

Can anyone tell me thier experience with running a Trophy Plus on thier 201? I'm running a 07 201 with a 250 HPDI with a 27 Tempest on it. It seems to be right on the money but I do need to get a spare or two.

If you were going to get a spare, I'd either get a 27T1 or a 27 ASX. Some folks run Trophy's but they seem to be more on the 'Rude motors or Mercs.

I'm curious, what is "right on the money" to you?

I've not done well with ANY Merc prop on my boat (a 200 PXL). Maybe I just had a bad batch of props, but I tried both the three blade and four blade in different pitches. My best handling and speed have been with a Yamaha T-1 and a Power Tech TRO4.

I'd agree, a 27T1 should be right up your alley....I don't have any props that would fit yours, but if you want to meet at the lake one day and go over the setup on it I am always game!

    Re: 201 Prop question (AB)

This is the first Yamaha motor i've ever owned, all i have owned in the past is Mercury. I'm very familar with the Tempest and have run the Trophy on my previous boat. That is why I was wondering if anyone had used them on the Stratos. As far as handling and speed the Tempest is working fine for me. I just know that if there is anything on the lake bottom i can seem to find it. All of your input is greatly appreciated. Right now I am running 76 MPH at 5600 rpm with the Tempest. I have only had this boat about two months and I am just getting used to it. It is a big difference in the 1984 Stratos I had with an old 150 XR2 on it or the previous Nitro I had with a 150 EFI. thanks for the input/

I'd be more than happy to meet and help you learn to drive the boat and fine tune the setup. With the 250HPDI it should be in the upper 70's easily. I generally prefer the feel of a 3 blade, the 4 blade will drive easier but might lose a mph or so on the top end. I really had a devil of a time finding the exact "sweet spot" on my rig, but now that I have, she is a pure dream to drive!

    I am running a 28 Raker2 on my 225HO and turning 5800 or so at 78-79mph.

    Re: 201 Prop question (craigh)

I am running a 27 Tempest plus...I like it better than anything else I have run...I also have T1 and a TXP and the Tempest is thew best all around prop...The TXP is a turd compared to both props...The T1 is the fastest by about .5 mph @ 79+, but it takes a lot of driver input to drive and has a lot of steering torque...The Tempest will run @ 76-77 with 2 people and 78-79 by myself with very little driver input and no steering torque...You might try a T1 if you can find one to try, but you will probably not like it any better...
