If you plan on keeping them both for a long time.![]()
It costs a lot to completely re rig a boat for another brand of engine.
While I'm strong on Yamaha, I'd probably steer you towards a 200 HO Rude. It will work with your controls and give great performance and economy.
A buddy of mine has a 1997 295 that has a new 200 etec, replacing his old 150 faststrike. Most of the gauges worked outand it runs about 75 mph. If you are going to keep it aroud a while, it sounds like a great idea.![]()

Go for it. There is an older (mid or late 90s) model 201 that I see quite a bit that is in mint condition and has a HPDI. If I didnt know better the dude could tell me the boat was brand new.

Unless you are absolutly AGAINST a Rude I would look at that as an option. I went from a Merc to a Yamaha and even though Hydro-Tec did a great job scavaging all they could, a re-rig costs a LOT more $$$ than you would think (but for me it didn't matter....I was/am DONE with Mercury!)
Etec was my first choice and may be what I end up with. There are more Yamaha dealers around here than Evinrude and the nearest Evinrude dealer is very expensive.
