    I'm now a Javelin owner...few questions.

I just picked up a '00 Venom 17 with a 115 Johnson. I took it for a ride..and was impressed. 2 people and a full tank of gas -55 MPH (speedo)

    A few questions....

Gas guage is jumping at speed...normal or do I need a new sending unit?
How many rpm's should I be turning? It was at 5000. Is this a motor that should rev a little higher?

Its pretty weird going from a 28 mph boat to a 55 mph boat. Hopefully I get some more time driving it when there aren't 800 boats on the river.

most of the 115 johnsons are max are 4500-5500 rpm.

My gas gauge jumps if I'm under a half tank on my venom. I have a 18 venom, get about 50 gps with a renagade and 54.5 with a raker, but its turning 6,000 rpm. Going to a 22 p raker if I can find one.

Gas gauge moving is probably just from the fuel sloshing around in the tank.

That's one heck of a 17ft boat. My friend had one, we had great times going after crappie in it. Congrats! Just in time for Fall fishing. As far as the fuel guage, it may be as noted above. . fuel sloshing around. If it reads full and empty accurately, it may be fine.
