    Trailer help desperately needed!

Ok so now for the second time this season I had my trailer take a crap on me.. This time at least I didnt lose a wheel...

Bearing failure on brand new less that 3 month less than 1k mile bearings....

I think its moronic to have a single axle under a 20+ foot boat so im looking for advice or a direction..

I have a 97 409 TDC Javelin and I need a dual axle trailer. Anyone on this side of the continent have one???? Something that I can modify to fit???

Should I get one made somewhere??

I need some direction because I have no faith left in this trailer. I have to travel too far to go to lakes to have to worry about this all the time. I have the boat all straightened out but I need to get this issue taken care of.

I wouldnt care so much bit I fish alot of tourneys and the boat is in awesome shape.

    Thanks for any help!!

    Chris,

There's a problem somewhere that caused this. I'd look at the following:

    1) Have you hit anything with the trailer that could have caused it to be damaged, warped, out of alignment, etc.?

    2) The bearing was not installed properly in the first place or you got a bad bearing out of the box. Do you know who installed them? Were they greased properly, etc.?

    3) Lug nuts could have been left loose causing vibration in the wheel and wearing out the bearing quickly.

Something wasn't right. Trailers are a simple setup and as long as everything is in good shape, in line and square, you shouldn't have any problems.

There is a post on this site where a guy converted his single axle to a dual. I believe it was under a Bullet boat. Do a search to find it. It can Be done very economically. Found the post:

I ran my 96 201 for 8 years with a single axle under it and had no problems ever... The bearings never even felt warm after a long pull...I put a few thousand miles on it every year, so it had plenty of travel, so there has to be something wrong with your axle, bearings or hub that is causing it...When you replaced the bearings, was it from the prior failure and if so, was it a new axle, or just new spindles or just new bearings that were installed... If it has a new axle, it could be too light of an axle and causing it to flex under the load...Do the tires show any signs of unusual wear?
