    Prop to pad question

With a boat that has the keel extending the entire length of the boat to the back of the pad:

    rear view:

    \______ ______/
    ............V

should the prop measurement be taken from tip of the ridge or the flat immediately adjacent:

It makes nearly 3/4" difference on this boat.

I realize it's a starting point, but it should be the flat I can potentially save 3 test sequences, which equates to nearly a day at the boat ramp w/ tool box.

thanks, all. Hope the stick diagram works in the post, excuse the dots as they're there to format the V :)

Re: Prop to pad question (frugal-angler)

    Good question.....

I'd look at it from this standpoint. There is no way the boat will balance itself on the tip of the 'V'. Therefore, there is still going to be a 'pad' at the rear of the boat. I would take my measurements from the flat part closest to the 'V' as that will actually be the part of the boat supporting the weight when running.

    \______ ______/
    .... ^^^v^^^

The upward pointing arrows (^) would be what I consider the pad on your boat.
