    help 21 ss extreme

the boat is new to me. I am encountering little problems. the dash lights will not come on. The jackplate exact dial does nothing. there is a plug by the batteries that has two orange and green wires in it and nothing connected to the plug but the other end goes to the auto bilge flaot, what plugs into this, a fuse makes it work but it does not look right. getting a draw on the cranking battery. All of these things are occuring with the motor completely off the boat.

those orange and green wires are bilge pump float switch if you have auto bilge pumps the person may have taken them out and rewired to the switch on the dash to work the regular switch

Your instrument lights are done with a blue wire , as for the dial that is an aftermarket or dealer installed item and not on the standard wiring list from stratos.

    Hi Nascar20n6,

It took me a while to figure out all the switches and stuff on mine. Certain features only work when the POWER knob is turned on (should be just above the ignition switch). I believe the NAV/ANCHOR switch is one of them. I also think the gauge lights only come on when the NAV/ANCHOR switch is set to NAV and the power switch is on.

Other functions and features work independent of the POWER switch like the motor will start, tilt/trim, Tach and etc. But pretty much everything else that is electronic will be powered by the POWER switch. You might check to ensure that no breaker switches have been tripped. Mine has a breaker panel mounted on the right hand kick panel of the drivers console. Theyn are push-in style trip switches with rubber nipples to make them water-proof. Just press on each one to make sure it is engaged. You'll know when you hit one that's tripped -- the nipple is hard and when you press it back in it will click as it resets. IF you find one that will not reset, then you most likely have a component drawing more amps than the breaker is rated for and will need to remove the panel attach the wires to one of the bigger amp breakers or wire it direct to the battery with an inline fuse link. The amps for the breakers are marked on the backside of the panel. It may also be a bad breaker and need replacing.

I hope its something as simple as this. Good luck.
