Corrosion and poor connection on main fuse

Anyone else having problems with corrosion in their main fuse holder? We had 16 pounds last week, but almost had to quit because we lost all power about 9pm. The fuse itself was demolished. Cracked plastic and corroded metal had to be removed with pliers. Inserted new fuse, but connection was intermittent. I cleaned the fuse holder when I got home and adjusted the contacts for a tighter fit. So far it works, but where is this problem coming from? The batteries show no sign of leaking and I leave the rear compartment lid open when in the garage, so I don't think battery acid is the culprit. This is the second time I've had this problem this year.

I just cured the same problem on my boat. I just had to adjust my fuse holder for a tigher fit. I dont have a corrosion problem. It had me tricked for a few trips but I eventually figured it out. I only replaced the fuse once after it blew due to a faulty cell phone cord, not sure how it got bent though.

You might want to apply a bit of contact grease to those connections as well to prevent the corrosion and help keep the water out .
