I want the most powerful starting battery I can get. I am concerned about buying a battery that has too many amps for my 92 with a 70HP Evinrude motor.
Should I be concerned?
What should I look for? Cold crank power?
thanks

If you hear banjos upstream, turn and paddle in the opposite direction.
It will only pull what it needs.

I use a group 24 Exide Orbital. Not only does it crank my 150, it also runs all my electronics, lights and pumps.

So there is no problem in buying the highest rated battery made?

No problems at all. Like said before, the engine will only pull the amps it needs to start. A 24 series should do fine. I use 27's in my rig because I do a lot of night fishing. A little extra juice for those long nights.

Since I do a lot of night fishing I usually change my crank tray and install a group 27 to make sure that I have enough juice left to crank it over after i've been running nav lights , black lights , and finders all night long . I've never had to hunt for a jump to get off the water , and never had to put in cause things quit working , ( as long as I remembered to plug in the onboard while it waited patiently on the carport during the week - duh ) . Just an option you might want to consider .
I run Everstart 29's for everything. Talked to the guys at Everstart and they said that was ideal.
