I have almost the same boat ( 1996 201 pro duel console / 2006 225 Evenrude E-tech HO / 25" prop) and was wanting to add a hydrolic jack plate also.

What's the reason for the 8 inch verses 10 inch?

The 8" seems top work good on these boats.

    Rick,

You may want to try a 26 Raker II.

    Tanks Kenneth.........

I now have a 26 Raker II and it's greatttt on hole shot...really great, Nose goes up then immediately over....WOW on plane in a sec....but that pesky chine walk at around 70 has got to go...I can drive thru it but who wants to man handle it....tant fun at near 80 having to wrestle to stay upright... ....my old 8" manual jackplate (t&h) would not work with the new HO cause it conflicted with hyd steering cyl....Anybody want to buy a T&H jackplate, one year old, bright mill finish, with hydrofoil, very good cond. $ 200.00 ?......will a hyd plate allow the E-TEC to get low enough for water pressure?

Water pressure with that motor should not be a problem.

The chine walking should go away once the motor is setup in the right position (you are probably too low). The Raker II provides a lot of lift and raising the motor will allow more of the boat to sit in the water.

A hydraulic jack plate has the same travel as a manual (of same make) jack plate. The only difference is the hydraulic will let you make changes to the height anytime you want to.

    Rick,

Let me know if you would like to get together and work on that setup one day.
