boat would run around 72 5800 rpm before plate was installed,I dont think it would even hit 68 5500 the nose of the boat seems to plow we tried to lower the plate but the problem is the steering cylinder will hit

Shouldnt you be raising the plate not lowering it??? And i also think if you check on that renegade hull you might have actually made the motor lower with the extreme angle they made those Transoms with

check with Gadgetter(chip) he is running into the same thing..the longer the plate the lower the motor got slowing the boat down even more

I'm thinkin the same thing Jerry...start jacking that thing up! Your lift should come back as you go up.

by chance did you let off the accelerator at that speed and the nose pop up ?????
mine really had to get lower to get the bow up on an 8" plate .
no, i don't have the same boat but very similar hulls. had the same problem , i kept raising the motor and the prob got worse , wasn;t til i really lowered the plate that the bow got up . a high rake prop really helped too...

Try it set at 3" below the pad ( Prop shaft to pad measurement ) ...Then go up 1/4 at a time until you loose speed or water pressure...You said that it lowered your rpms, so you should need to come back up to get the rpm's back...You may need a 3 blade prop like a Raker or Tempest to run well with the jackplate at a higher height...

Re: installed jack plate cant get bow to lift (201pro)

You're still to high.......4"-3.75" pad to shaft is where it runs. The steering cylinder will hit the transom if you trim it all the way up....this is just the way that hull and transome are.

    Lower the engine.

72 at 5800 before already showed a bit of slippage.

You'll have to make a mental note to not trim the cylinder into the transom......but you must lower!

Re: installed jack plate cant get bow to lift (72nova)

thank you all for the replies, I was looking at the plate tonight and the motor does needs to go lower. I was looking at some other jack plates and noticed others are notched out to clear the steering cylinder, my buddy wants me to try a 26 raker before I change the plate. I really dont think the prop is going to change much, back at it this weekend
