Just got the boat outta the shop. Have a 225 Yamaha ox66 . Took it out yesterday, ran it as hard as I could, but could'nt get more than 5300 rpm's . Runniing a 143/4 x 27 pitch Turbo Lightning prop at 3" below pad. The jackplate is all the way up and the motor is sitting as high as possible on the plate. Mechanic at shop said to trim it all the way up till I throw a huge rooster tail...that this boat runs best that way. Well, I kept trimming till it chine walked so bad I couldn't hold it, and still no more rpm's. Seems to need more bow lift also. Didn't have the gps so don't know what my speed was. Any suggestions? I've been told this motor should turn this prop at @ 5900 rpms. HELP!!!Have a 6"manual plate.
