    Bought a stratos repo

Well I bought some lakefront property on a 120 acre lake and it's electric motor only...thought about getting a jon boat but happened across this stratos on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT
The guy even brought it almost to my house for nothing. Seems the dude owed money on the motor so it was pulled and he never showed up for the boat. I was gonna just leave it at the lake but I'm kinda thinking of fixin her up..it's worse than the pics...bad fade on the gelcoat though the hull is solid and all the electric stuff works. It makes my 201 look like an aircraft carrier
Wholesale on the boat was 2100 and 400 on the trailer so it was a good deall as I couldn't use a gas motor anyway. I'm just not sure if I should tear out the carpet and start buffing or let it go. Bad enough keeping the 201 looking prime...can't believe this one is a year older as it looks like 40 years older!

Thats a steal for that kind of money!!! You could put a little work into her slap a motor on and sell that thing for a profit!!

I wouldnt be able to own her and not fix her up

I know....I think I'll try a little wet sanding on her and see what it looks like. The restoration forum has a lot of good tips on it. Hey at least it's only 15 feet long so won't have too big an area to cover if I do decide to get it up to speed.

wet sand may help or it may not depends on how much gel coat is left or not. I would first get a good not too hard brush and since she has sit out wash her with that to see how much dirt comes off you may be suprised. then use a color restorer on it like 3M or Mequires to help cut thru what is left.
Now as for the motor I dont know what it is rated for but if you can find a good used motor it may be worth it I know guys down here are always looking for smaller rigs to run on russell ( not a ton of traffic like the hill or hartwell). also if you decide to keep it and use it on electric lakes remember to plug the lower holes in the transom ( motor holes) as when you put in you may get a surprise with the addition of water to the rear of the boat and when fishing you may notice your nose getting higher. fill them with silacone sealer so if you do want to add a motor later you are able to easily.
