    Stator problem?

I have a 02 Evinrude 225 Ho motor. don't have model/serial on me, will post those later. While fishing saturday, boat ran fine all morning, went to start it again, boat started but was idling very rough, got on plane fine though, moved to next spot shut it down fished a while. Went to start it again and it would crank fine but wouldn't start. Got towed to ramp, got it home and checked all the fuses and they were all good. checked output from the stator where it goes into the ECM with a multimeter and nothing..... What else should I check of have I got it pretty much covered that the stator went bad? Thanks for the help......Brad

You need to know that the starter is spinning the engine fast enough! If not it will not start. It is hard to tell by sound if it has been going bad slowly. Do you have the diagnostic software? The software is the best way to check the 40v output of the stator. With it idle being rough you need to check the CPS as well. and of course check the compression.

well did a compression check. #1 had 0 compression and the others had 125-127 psi. So next step is to figure out if i should rebuild this powerhead or buy a new one, what do you guys think would be the best option for me. the motor has 495 hours.

Rebuild but figure out why the piston went down. Look at the 'puter and see if there are any codes. May have leaned out an injector.
