    Etec water pressure

Long story .. i think my water pressure is to low. At wide open i get roughly 15#. Unstand motor height but lowered it and no change. Just got boat and know nothing on service history. Engine has 76 hrs. Dealer i got it from is merc and they sent it to evinude dealer and got a print out on it. After i got the boat they gave me the print out and a reciept from rude dealer. Has 14 overheat port and 7 starboard. 12 engine temp over range 1 emm temp above range. With the paperwork there was a reciept with it and showed the dealer changed plugs, checked comp. And flushed.. all good there but also noted port head running warmer may need t-stat and waterpump. Called dealer and there reply was it that it was just suggested and "may" not need it. So im dun with that dealer. Im not willing to risk the engine, and my problem is i work 8 hrs from home there is no etec service person with in an 1.5 hour drive and they are all busy. I get the weekend off and would like to feel comfortable about running this engine. And my wife cant pull the boat! I think i can change the water pump and tstats my self. Plenty of info on here and youtube. My questions are... am i going the correct path as far as overheat and water pressure? Anything else i should look into as far as the emm? Correct part #'s for what i need and is there anything extra that doesnt come in the waterpump kit and tstat kit? Thanks

Just did my water pump. Comes with instructions , if you take your time you'll be fine. Youll need some 847 sealant.

Boats.net is a good place to get the stats and the WP kit. You will need some sealers/adhesives and you pump kit will tell you what they are. FYI, the two products are expensive via Evinrude and you won't use much and the shelf life is not many years. Maybe one of the Guru's here will give you alternatives. Changing the Stats is simple. Get an Evinrude service manual too.
15 lbs. of WP is within spec as min at WOT is 11. If your alarms don't go off you should be GTG. You probably have the original lower unit which is an L1 and when I had the L1 I did notice the WP not being what it is with the L2 I have now. My L2 get me 18-19 @ WOT and sometimes 20.
The codes from overheat may have been from a clog and fixed now but I think you are on the right path in changing the Stats and pump kit. There are plenty of U-tube video's to help. I always struggle with the o-ring seal so if I were you order and extra while you are at it, heck get an extra gasket too. Be careful with the water tube.
