Basscat builds a fine boat but they just dont appeal to me. I dont see myself in anything other than a Skeeter.

+1 I just don't care for the lay out of the cat. I do believe the cat is a fine built boat that the company will stand behind.

I would own either...both great boats.![]()

I HAVE HAD BOTH - THE BIG DIFFERENCE IS BASSCAT PEOPLE CAN BE REACHED EASILY AND THE PROBLEM ADDRESSED AND AT SKEETER THEY ARE HARD TO FIND SOMEONE THAT CAN ACTUALLY GET IT FIXED AND I ONLY LIVE 50 MILES FROM KILGORE- THAT'S THE BIG DIFFERENCE ONE WANTS TO HELP, EVEN ON WEEK- ENDS AND THE OTHER PUTS YOU ON HOLD ON WEEK DAYS
A club member has a BC and I like Skeeter's layout and platform better. The bug's layout just looks a lot more roomier.

Earl +1.
I have an '06 ZX200 with dash issues. (digital panel expired and was replaced with tzx toggle panel from skeeter plant.) That was over 2 months ago. Still have problems with fuel gauges reading other than full and blowing fuses while using trim and livewells. Phone calls find answering machines with NEVER a returned phone call. Always told that I will get a call as soon as problem is figured out. Hmmmm.Skeeter service sucks! I will join the BassCat family as soon as my finances will allow. Service means something. Too bad Skeeter outgrew their roots.
I guess i would have to ask why is it that so many Cat owners have to call the factory and use the CS? Is there not much dealer support in certain areas or is there a lot of little things that have to be fixed? I know our local Cat dealers are top notch.![]()
Mark you don't EVEN want to mention little things that need to be fixed and Skeeter. I could write you a book about the little things that needed to be fixed on my ZX225 when it was new. OR the Dealer support or LACK OF. And speaking of LACK OF CS I won't tell you how many times I tried to get help or an answer. And when I did get to talk to someone they were no help. And things that they said would be covered under my warr. THEY DIDN'T COVER. I don't fish for Team Skeeter so I can tell it like it is and IT SUCKS !!!!

I don't fish for Skeeter either and I pay for my boats just like most folks do. I just have not seen the issues you talk about on any of my Skeeters. I have tried to switch brands and both times I came back to a Skeeter in a couple of months. Any question I have had I have alwats had great service from Skeeter. Granted a BassCat is on my short list of boats I would own but I do admit I have to question why every Cat owner brings up the customer service thing. Either folks call the factory a lot or they are just parroting something they have heard or read. I know and respect Rick Pierce tremendously and its not a shot at him or the brand. Just an honest question.
I'm gonna have to agree with Mark on this one. I'm on my 4th Skeeter since 96 and haven't had a Skeeter related issue on any of my boats. I hear alot about Cats CS which tells me they're always having comebacks and issues. As for me and mine, I'll stick with the bug family.![]()
I have owned 3 consecutive Skeeters with Yamaha engines since 1995 and the ONLY break-downs I have had were my own fault - things I screwed up. I have never had to call Skeeter customer service, so I don't know anything about them. But that is exactly why I keep buying Skeeters - I just don't have any problems. Same with my Ford trucks. I keep buying the products that work without all the warranty headaches.
I had a salesman one time who kept telling me how I needed to buy an extended warranty on a product I was going to purchase. He went on and on about all the reasons why I needed to buy the extra warranty until I finally decided not to even buy the product at all. I told him if the warranty was so necessary then I would just pass on the product. JMO
(And I am in no way bashing BC by saying this. I know a couple of guys who own them and they sure do like them. I just prefer the looks of my Skeeters and I have never had a problem with any of them.)

I own a 2008 Basscat Pantera II that I bought used from a private owner last year.
I've called Basscat service three times because there is no dealer close by. I would guess that's the reason most boat owners call them directly.
The first time was when I was buying the boat. A lady in the office got out the original build sheet on the boat and told me everything I wanted to know, in a few minutes. That's what sold me on the brand. I had tried the same thing with a Ranger and got nowhere.
The second time was because my 250 lb partner decided to open a latch even though it was locked and he broke it. This call took about 3 minutes. Basscat sent me a new one- no charge.
The third time was yesterday when I noticed the seam was torn on the passenger seat . This call was about 3 or 4 minutes long. Basscat is in the process of replacing it- no charge.
Things are going to happen to any boat and I'm sure Skeeter is a great boat, but it's a great feeling to know that you've got the Basscat company behind you.
I've owned many brands. This is my first Basscat and it won't be my last.
