I was having a hard to start issue and took it to my dealer. They said there was an update for that. How are these updates rolled out? Are there individual updates for seperate problems or does rolling to the latest code address all problems.

They are sent out as a release notice. The Dealer downloads the new updates and has them saved on his laptop/PDA when the customer comes in voila' the tech hooks up and it is downloaded to the EMM.
Is there any way to tell without asking the dealer? On my E60DPLSDA I am running map 60L10315.
Look at the software version and revision numbers.
The version number functions as a part number and rarely changes. The revsion number usually* increases when there is a change. The current revision number for an E60DPLSDA is 97233. If the revision number in your engine is a lower number, than there is an available update.

* Note - the revision numbers used to track engine software are a 5-digit number. Recently the number reached 99999 and rolled over to 00001 and started over. So, for those of you who find you have a 3-digit revision number, that IS correct.
Thanks John - I have emailed my dealer to get the update.
Can someone post simple straightforward instructions on how to load the update? I have the bootstrap but have never updated the software before and really don't wish to fry the EMM.
ok - looking in the help in the diagnostic software I see numbered instructions on how to do it so that should be ok. However, when the instructions say "remove power to the EMM" or "restore power to the EMM" - how should I do that?
Is it as simple as removing/connecting the battery leads?
Just turn the key on for power to the EMM then of will remove power, Do not start the engine.

Of course! Great!
thanks a plenty!
Out of curiousity, does BRP post what the updates solve? or how they improve the software?
