    raising trailer height?

short story I bent one of the fenders on my TZX190 EZ Loader single axle trailer last season and now it's real close to the tire. There is no way I can straighten it without cutting it off. It will actually hit the tire if I go over a big bump. Someone suggested I take 2 hockey pucks and put one on each side between the leaf spring & axle. It sounds like a descent idea, and that would be just about the height I'd like to add, but has anyone ever done this or heard of people doing it?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

They can be straightend out. I accidentaly hit a concrete pole with my trailer a couple years ago. Ended up bending the fender in and bending the front axle. Had to install a new axle for the tune of $1400. The dealer bent the fender out enough that the tire wouldn't rub and during the winter I finished straightening the fender and repainted it. Can't tell it now unless you knew it was bent before. It just takes some time and pounding with a good size hammer to get it done. Once you get it back in the general shape you can take the car body hammers and finish smoothing it out.

thanks, but that is exactly what I'm trying to avoid! if you weren't specifically looking for it, you wouldn't see it's bent. there's just more room in the back then there is the front, so it's off by about a half inch to an inch. I'd just feel better raising it up a bit because even before it was bent you could barely get a finger between the fender & tire. it rides real low.

Oh ok. Instead of using a hockey puck I'd try to find me a piece of steel or aluminum the thickness I wanted to raise it and shape it to fit under the spring on top the spring perch and between the u-bolts. May have to have new ubolts depending on how much thread the old ones have left and what kind of shape they are in. Good luck

Why not use a torch and bend it back? Much easier and safer.

my wife hit another trailer with mine and it would rub on bumps. i took the tire off and used a BFH to get it out. cant tell it was there except the pin stripe is rubbed off from where it got hit.

Call EZLoader and get another fender.

I did this a couple years or so, ago.

    I also have a TZX-190 ( 2005 ) . I don't recall the cost of the fender, but it was under $100.

The paint will cost you more than the fender. EZLoader has the paint, but it will cost a bunch to ship because its considered a hazardous substance.

I took the fender and the paint ( I bought a new fender board also, from EZ Loader ) to a local boat shop, and they welded the fender on and painted it for $300 .

Figure out some way to JACK/PULL the fender instead of beating it with a hammer. It would be easier to protect the paint/finish this way. Or go the the auto parts store and buy extended spring shackles and raise it the old school hotrod way.
