WOULD YOU REPOWER OR FIX IT

OK so I've been bashing Yamaha about the power head blowing. My apologies! Turns out I hit something in the water bent my prop shaft, cracked the blade of the prop and this caused the powerhead to blow. SO the question is I'm getting $9000 from insurance. Do I fix the motor or repower with a 225SHO since I was already planning on spending that out of pocket anyway. What would you do. Is it worth it on a 2005 zx225?

I personally think you should repower with the SHO... But that's my opinion!!!

if you are happy with the boat and plan on keeping it for a long time, repower. personally thats what id do. that boat is timeless and will last forever if you take care of it.

That SHO will make your boat, its an awesome motor! I've got the 250 SHo on my 20i and absolutely love it.

Get the SHO and get the warranty if you plan on keeping the boat for awhile.

In your situation, I'd repower with a SHO...especially if you like your boat.

I'd love to have a SHO hanging on the back of my 2001 ZX225.

I would repower!! You can probably part out or sell what's left of your old engine or sell it. There are people hunting all the time for the cowl, and that retails for over $1000 by itself, the pumps, wiring, and everything else are still good, I'm sure.

Re: WOULD YOU REPOWER OR FIX IT (Texas Larry)

What are you going to do?

If it were me, I'd cut my losses and move on. Unless I planned on being in that boat for at least 5 more yrs, I wouldn't repower.

I'm looking for a new to me boat currently, and I have elimanated all boats older than the late 2007's that have the old paint scheme with the old designed console. If your boat was a late 2007 with the new schemes, I then would repower as it would look like a 2010 with 2011 SHO. Instead you'll have an obvious older model boat with new motor.
Off topic but I've been talking with people about thier used late model Skeeter they are selling, and I'm betting 75% of them have replaced that HPDI power head. This has me scared to death since there likely will be very little warranty if any when I buy it, so I'm now also looking at Legends with the ProXS. I've owned 3 skeeters and all have been great, and I should probably keep my '01, but I'm ready for a new one. It seems chances are if you re-powered with another HPDI it is going to blow up.

Re: WOULD YOU REPOWER OR FIX IT (Tamale)

I fixed it and bought a 2011 z521 ranger w/mercury 250 proxs. I loved my skeeter but hanging a 18K motor on a boat that is only worth 24k running didn't make sense. I'm going to miss skeeter but we have no dealers within 500 miles sooo.
