    New Skeeter Owner

Just purchased my first Skeeter got from the origional owner. It is a 1992 200 DX with a 200 Yamaha Pro V and it is a garage queen only used a few times a year it looks like new! It has maybe 100 hours run time with only 5 hours the last two years?

Question should I add anything to the fuel to the engine young?

What is the max RPM for this engine and what kind of speed for this setup?

Also it has a Minn Kota 48 pound 12/24 TM is that enoung thrust for this boat?

    Thanks!

    Congrats & welcome!

as far as your fuel goes, I use Yamaha Ring Free, and K100 (or starbrite, stabil, etc, etc) and I only use Yamaha oil

Congrats on the SKEETER..... post pictures.

Make sure you put in Ringfree or seafoam in every time you fill up. I would also get a water separator put on the main fuel line. If you let the fuel set very long make sure you also put a fuel stabilizer in it. This ethanal fuel is horrible to a 2 stroke

I also a strong believer of using yamalube oil.. You'll get 100 different opinions why you could use other oils. But you'll make your own choice.

As far as set ups I don't have any solid answers for you, I'd think with the 200 hp you should get in the 60's, I also believe their is a rev limiter set at 6100 rpms

For the T motor the 48lb would be a little harder to control in the wind, I'd upgrade to a 80lb 24 volt when possible.

    +1 on BlackKnife's comments.

Yamaha Pro V 200 ...... I think it was max recommended 5500rpm's ... but you'll see everyone on here turning them between 5500-6000.

Trolling motors ..... I don't know what size your boat is, but assuming it's 19' or most likely 20' ....... that 48lb thrust trolling motor is going to be on the weak side. You'll probably find yourself running it on 'high' or 'almost high' all the time. Windy days are going to kill you. The reason I say this is my dad's old 17' bass boat has a 43lb or 46lb MotorGuide on it (can't remember exactly) and it's not enough ....... however in 1991 that's what they came with ..... those were the common TM's back then, like 70/80lb TM's are today. So ........ if you got the money, I'd splurge and get a bigger TM. I'd get a 80lb'er unless you're willing to go 36v.

    Re: New Skeeter Owner (Ranger391v)

yeah...48lb is gonna be weak for almost any glass boat....I'd think you'd want to step up to a 24V 70 lb. I still have the Motor Guide 12V/24V Brute that was on my boat when I bought it. I can't remember if it's a 56 or a 65 lb. it just needs some black spray paint on the bottom....other than that it's fine, but you may want to go bigger.

AND please post some pics!! It sounds like this oldie is cherry!!
