    Livewell/Oxygenator Question

Guys, my '05 TZX200 came with oxygenators in both wells. they are wired directly to the batteries with no switch - (I assume this is because the water might act like a switch??)

Anyway, i'm not seeing any "gray" mist / bubbles off of them. do they get old?? Can I take them apart and clean them?? How do I even know if they're still working?

Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks.

They do activate when submerged. Mine came with a brush for cleaning the screens, which I do after every use. If you don't have calcium buildup on them my guess is they are working. The bubbles on mine can be hard to see once in a while.

Depends on which version you have. The early versions required cleaning - I used CLR to remove deposits. Later version has a green light when water activates - this is the self cleaning models.

thanks very much guys!! I don't have the green light, so I assume I'll need to try to scrub the plates.

Get you some CLR and allow it to soak on the screens. Probably have White deposits on them from calcium and lime in the water. Use a toothbrush to gently scrub the screens. make take a few applications to get removed. Then flush the livewells several times before putting any fish in them. I would fill and drain several tiems on land then in the water to make sure I got rid of all the chemicals before putting fish back in them. Hate to hurt our resource.

    Re: Livewell/Oxygenator Question (Doug Vahrenberg)

I just had the same promblem & contacted the guys a oxygenators.com I think. Anyway they told me to fill my live well up just enough to cover the oxygenator completely. then poor a gal of nematic acid in each live well & let soak for 5 min. then drain wells and rinse. Mine came out looking brand new & work great agian. You can buy the acid at home depot in the lawn & garden section back by the pool stuff. It cam 2 gal in a box for about $12.00. I will clean mine every year now that I know that I am suppose to. I hope this helped.
