This is not authoritative but simply my observation: it appears that the E-TEC fuel injector has been redesigned and the new style will be used on all 2008 motors. I saw this new injector used on 2008 motors being delivered in May 2007.

BRP is always looking for ways to improve items. The new injector has a new nozzle along with some internall changes that provide a more consistent fuel flow over the service life of the injector. I have ran a few 08 models now and have not really noticed any running difference between the two injectors.
There is also a change to the cylinder head mounting of the injector so they will not work on 07 and older product.
