I considered numerous options including console and deck mounting, none were the right option for numerous reason. this is a std 1.5" ball and works well even with a bunch of bouncing. You could size up to a "D" ball for a stonger hold.

Nice installThats seems a lot better that drilling into the fiberglass.
Thanks, I wasn't a big fan in drilling into the glass. Plus you can always pull it and place the original back or the x 135 that came on the boat. The biggy is the arm is vertical and that reduces the vibration and slippage as there is very little if any leverage on the arm.

YOU are not entitled to what I have earned!!!!!
2014 Phoenix 619 Pro / 2014 Mercury 200 Pro XS
Now your using your head, good install.
Looks like a very nice install, but I'd be worried about putting that much pressure on the plastic dash. Time will tell if the 4 screws break out form the dash. I hope they don't because it is a very clean way of mounting.
I think the way he has the ram mount mounted it will be fine seeing as it's kind of mounted over it's self and not hanging off, but like you said time will tell.
I guess the bow dash panel Skeeter sent me must all be silver now just like md's dash
nice job Doc....damn NICE boat too!!

I like it.If by chance, you have an extra plate that you made, I'd buy one from you. Just in case.
So far so good. Only a few runs. I have the alum plate screwed on the 2 top holes and then bolted through the face plat then alum then glass on the bottom. I think there is less stess than when mounted on the top of the glass console, where the mount is horizontally extended and there is leverage on the base. be sure to use washers on the back. maybe Ishould consider mounting a plate on the back to disperse more of the frces. I will watch it. Thanks

use "fender" washers, or the widest ones you can get to distribute any stress more evenly. the more you can beef up the mounting, the less you'll have to worry about
Thats what I used, Thanx
