    GT22HW noise VS TM150

So just removed my Airmar TM150 and replaced it with a GT22HW. Im not as impressed with the 2D image on the GT22, it das more noise and the fish don't stand out as arches as much as on the TM150. Are there any setting to help with this? Or is this just the difference between the ducers?

Either way adding the DI up front where I am at was worth it.

    Thanks

Havent found any setting to improve this.

Is there a different chirp 2D/downscan combo transducer that would be more similar to the Airmar TM150?

puhlw, have the TM 150 and the GT 22 side by side. The TM 150 is far better, however it is medium chirp. The GT 22 is high wide.

Are you going to sell your TM 150 if so interested.

No just moving my TM150 to the back of the boat.

Wish I could get the performance of the TM150 and still have downscan in one transducer for my trolling motor. Maybe the GT23 would be better as its a midband like the TM150? Anybody have both a TM150 and GT23?

I should note I went with the GT22 because its recommended for shallower water. I never fish over 50ft and mostly under 30.

Well the gt23 I ordered was a ct23 when it arrived. In the meantime I found some setting I like better on my gt22. Turned gain down to low auto and turned up echo stretch to +4. More comparable to my aitmar tm150 now.

The TM150 is 95-155 chirp with a 16/11 cone. The GT22 is 150-240 with a 24/16 cone. The size of the arches, without special settings, is purely how long the fish is in the cone. I'm not familiar with the software on the 1040xs. On the 7610 I have settings that adjust the appearance of the arches.

Generally the size of the arch is controlled by:
    Scroll speed
    Echo stretch
    Filter Width
High on Stretch and Low on Filter width makes them bigger but may introduce noise
    Pic Advance
    Change to 2/1

The Garmin transducer most comparable to the TM150 is the GT15
Here is two comparisons of the TM150 with the GT15 and GT8

My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.
