1st Skeeter and a few questions

Purchased my first skeeter last year, my intent was to run it for the season and sale it this spring and buy a stratos. After running it for the season on inland waters and lake St. Clair, I have decided to keep it another season, very impressed with it..

So getting ready for this year I have a few questions, and hope someone can help out:

    1) It has a 4 or 5 inch Jack plate, what would be the optimal manual plate, 8 / 10 / 12 ? I do fish st. clair alot, looking for stability / handleing and speed if doable

    2) Prop change, stock prop 3 blade, any recommends? The motor was rebuild approx 100 hrs ago and had some minor "additions" done

    3) Can I get away with a recessed foot box?

    4) Looking for some misc peices: transom caps, rubber boot for cables through transom, seats or skins, locker latches

well i have a 99 185c ...basically the same...but im no expert by any means but heres my take on it..
i have the 12 in jack plate i think that's the best, tho I've never seen one with a small one like yours has...
as for prop id get with mark in the props section on here. hes real good about helping out and others in there are really good and helpful
recessed tray, yea i did mine. that first cut can be a you know what but once you do, its easy and a GREAT addition....
as for parts, well there tinys fiberglass they have some ol skeeter parts, you'll have to google on the link don't have it handy, skins your prob out of luck skeeter doesn't carry that far back, as i was looking last year and called them, i went with the bassboat store seats and LOVE them and they are great to work with... can get with racefan on the boards for some help in that area they have new colors this year too...locker hatches you can find at cabelas, and other places, check ebay too sometimes theres a deal on em there not cheap.
    hope that helped ya some...
    good luck...

Re: 1st Skeeter and a few questions (dinkfinder)

Dink I fell from a tree in 1999 and broke my back in 2 places and a hernieated disc and lost my Right leg below the knee. I have rode in every kind of boat out there, from Ranger to Champions, Tritons, Stratos, Bass Cats, most all of them and I can tell you that Skeeter is the best riding boat. Now a lot of people will argue with me, but ride in a boat all day fishing, with pounding waves with a broke back and then you can argue with me. by the way Triton is the worst, I can barley walk after getting out of one. Stratos is the second best Thought you might like to know this.
