Just purchased 5 piece Deluxe seats from boatseats.com for my now restored 1988 Skeeter SF-175DX as my bench seat was rotting thru the bottom and seats were old and torn.
PROBLEM: The gas tank is under the fiberglass platform for the seating. With 3 seperate seats now to replace the bench seat, I need to drill holes to tack down the new seats.
Has anyone had this project and how do I accomplish this without going thru the Gas tank?
If you go to this is video of them installing these seats with the front hinge. I'm not sure if this will clear your fuel tank but thought it might help. I had just place an order this past week for the same seats. can't wait.
You will need to be VERY careful trying to do that job. Just a suggestion, you could drill a small hole where you expect to have to mount a bracket or something. Take a drill bit and wrap some tape around it about 1/4" from the tip. Drill through the fiberglass trying to just barely break through. After you are through drilling take a piece of wire or coat hanger and stick in the hole to measure how much depth you have to the tank. Be careful with long screws and flex in the fiberglass as it may sag and puncture the tank. Think about waves and bouncing also.
